Last Thursday

Can I tell you about last Thursday?

Home > Norwegian Embassy > Greenpeace PH Office (Tomas Morato) > Powerbooks (Greenbelt)

I just felt like adding the above photo because I love the architecture in Makati. The bulidings all look cool. Last Thursday was one of the most exhausting days of my life. With only 4 hours of sleep, minimal breakfast and a full day ahead of commuting from north to south.. I think you get the picture.

We went to the Royal Embassy of Norway in Makati for lolo's visa application. Yay. Things are looking up. We'll just wait after about 10-12 working days.

In the interview area, they said we couldn't use our cellphones, had to turn them off. Okay, I am not totally at fault here because I saw the sign AFTER I turned on my phone. I did it to take a snapshot of this lady's shoes. I love!

Well.. that's done. Let's head down to the ground floor now. Click on the photo for a better view. Such a curious thing if you ask me.

HUG. Cute, huh?
After the embassy, Philippine Columbian Association for lunch then I get dropped off at UST then I head over to the Tomas Morato area for my Greenpeace orientation. After all that, Greenbelt for my Hands on Manila orientation.

Happy to say I am now a volunteer! Yay :D I haven't started working on anything yet. But I will.. soon. For now, I'm kinda grounded because I snuck out last Saturday. Hihi.

I WANT AN IPOD TOUCH OR AN IPOD CLASSIC. I'll be saving up for two months to get either one. Hopefully, that mission won't prove to be futile. In other news, enrollment tomorrow! Yay, friends! :D Annnnnnnd. We've been having gloomy weather these past few days. Just the way I like it. Also, bought school supplies last Saturday morning. Yes morning; because people get crowded and crazy in the afternoon. I bought more books than school supplies. Srsly. Pending a post about that. Hihi

I'm done ranting. More to come. Follow blog with caution. Au revior! Have a good one, everybody :)

Day 27

A quote you try to live by:

"Live as if you were to die tomorrow; learn as if you were to live forever"
(Mahatma Ghandi)

It pretty much sums up my life philosophy in a few, short and simple words.

Ms. Nobody

Michelle Maglasang. Student. Blogger. Curious.

Why the title? When I was in Grade 5, we discussed a poem entitled "Mr. Nobody". It was a part of the unit that focused on curiousity, adventure, and little children. You know how kids can be. Inquisitive minds and adventurous spirits. I should know hihi.

Anyway, the poem was about this young boy who wreaks havoc in the house where he lives which drives his family crazy. It's entitled "Mr. Nobody" because they don't know who's been making a mess in the household. Or something to that effect.

Yes I remember stuff like that.

Throughout the entire discussion on this particular unit, my then English teacher kept pointing out what a rascal my older brother was (same teacher). Yeah, he was, as she kept pointing out, "too adventurous", like a kid. If only she knew how I much I was too.

I like to think of myself as Ms. Nobody because I too, am adventurous. I am still very much like a kid (look like one too, as many people like to point out).

Anyway, I like experimenting (no, not that kind), learning new things, meeting people. Wala lang. Just felt like saying so :>

Day 26

Things you like and dislike about yourself:

Like: Hmm. I love myself. That's all I have to say about that.
Dislike: insecurities whatnot, sensitive, pikon

art I found on my classroom desk. wala lang.
:D

Day 25

PS: Don't worry be happy. OHMMMM.

May 22, 2011

Whirlwind

I'm happy to be far from bored. Although, I am not saved from the blistering tropical heat (who is?). Since Fashion Week, I've been.. around. Haha.

I am now a volunteer for Kythe! I haven't started on my volunteer duties yet because the affiliated hospitals are all up north in Quezon City :( I will start when school does. Luckily for me, USTH is a Kythe-affiliated hospital. Yehey! :D

During my NSTP days.

Last Wednesday (18th), me, JJ and Ate Yanyan along with her DLSU friends went to EK! Some of my blockmates, Stella, Luisa, Joshua, Lara and Donna (balikbayan from Canada!) were also there. Awesome.

I conquered the Space Shuttle. Booyah. I wasn't able to go karting because damn it, it rained and they won't allow it. Huhu. I borrowed books from Mel. I'm so happy to have a fresh new stack of reads again. Three cheers for nerd-om.

Photos!! :D

LOL. awkward photo.

Can you see the cane? Hehe. Borrowed it from this 50's dude.

Friday (@ Rescue) and Saturday (Kam's 18th) nights were all rounds of drinking with my beloved HS batchmates. I finally saw a movie! Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides. I also had a photo op with some cosplayers dressed as, what else, PIRATES. I wore the pirate lady's hat too (in another photo). Hihi.

SO. That's what I've been up to. Well, mostly. Still working on Asahi's despedida video. It pains me to think he'll be jetting off this Thursday. Sigh. I need to finish it by tonight. Should be fun. I have a lot more to look forward to and a lot more to get done. Hopefully, matuloy si lolo sa trip niya on June. And it rests upon my ever "capable" hands.. Lezzdoodizz.
C'est la vie.

Day 24

Five words/phrases that make you laugh:

  1. Anything Sheldon Cooper says
  2. Anything Barney Stinson says
  3. Anything Chandler Bing says
  4. Any line from the movie, "Stepbrothers"
  5. John Casey
PS: Nahirapan ako sa Day 24 ah :s

Day 23

Something that you miss:

High school (especially senior year). Mom and dad. School. Coloring books. Among other things ;)

May 20, 2011

Day 22

Your academics:
I love school. If only I wasn't so lazy half the time. HAHAHA. Good news, I haven't failed any of my subjects. Bad? Uhm. I should try harder next time. Hihi. Good luck to everyone! The academic year looms ever so closer. Waaah. Happy days are here again.

Day 21

ATTIRE: Fashionably Chic

Last May 14 2011, I attended the Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2011 Spring Collection show! *applause*

I saw it with JP and two of his Beda friends, Cheska and Daniel. I got to score invites because my good friend, JP is the son of one of the designers, JunJun Cambe. As usual, I was a loser who didn't bring a decent camera and had to rely on her cellphone to take shots.

This year's show was so much fun to watch. Last year, I only got to see two designers' collections. Also, this year, they implemented some drama to the runway models' walks AND with matching music to suit the style of each designer. I mean wow, they even featured music from Moulin Rouge!! :) (WHAAAT)

Emily Sy. ETHEREAL.
The models looked like fairies because they were all wearing fairy dresses! :D I absolutely adored her collection. From the cocktails to the floor sweeping gowns, it was all magic.

Joyce Pilarsky. FRESH.
Started and ended with a bang. Ohh, wow. I would buy her entire collection if I could. It was all swish, sashay, swish, swish :D It does remind me of Moulin Rouge.

JunJun Cambe. FIERCE.
As in literally, FIERCE. Haha. His style was sort of tribal this year. I love love loved the models' hair!! Teased to perfection. :D Amazonians invaded the runway like woah.

Michelle Lim. COLORFUL.
When the models entered the runway in a sort of triangular position, instant splash of color. They collectively looked like a rainbow, no joke. Everything was so bright and bubbly :D

We got freebies this year! (Well, sort of) The official programme plus some fliers that entitle you to discounts in select boutiques and stores. Yay! Better than nothing, right?

This was what I wore:

And this is my "artistic" (yeah right) imitation of it:

I hope I get to see the next one again :D I am sooo wearing heels next time because I easily get lost in the crowd with this petite frame.

Anyway, hung out with my younger sister, Barbs (her friend) and JP back at our condo. We went to the rooftop deck and the pool area! :D Fun day. Exhausting. But very fun nonetheless. :)

Day 18

A problem that you have had:

I lost my passport recently. I had to spend quite a lot. I got crushed under pressure and stress. Drastic change of plans had to be made. :(

It's all in the past now and I will get my new passport by July. :D

Day 17

Something you're proud of:

I've been through hell and back. More than once. :)

Been there, Rocked that

May 14, 2011

Day 16

Something you always think "what if" about:

..I didn't fear CHANGE as a kid?
..I never followed my heart's impulses?
..I took up ballet?
..I listened to my dentist the first time I got my teeth appliance?

There's a lot more.

Day 15

Your zodiac/horoscope and if you think it fits your personality:

VIRGO
- The sixth sign of the Rashichakra, Kanya (Virgo) are exacting in all they do. They are often the butt of all jokes for their being so picky and critical, but it serves the Virgins their mission: to help others.

- Industrious, methodical, efficient, practical, logical, precise, and a great sense of duty, and an utter perfectionist, a Jatakas of this sign often do not like to delegate and want to oversee every step of the operation themselves.

- Often quiet and reserved, tidy and perfect, the Virgins seldom shy away from taking on challenges and prove their mettle with hard work and a quiet determination.

- They gain success for their perfection and inability to ignore even the smallest of faults.

- Although not short-tempered, honest and forthright these Virgins do pick up arguments when anyone opposes them.

- They also tend to make bitter enemies, and remember events that happened a long time ago.

- Cannot sit still for long and also love to travel. Swift-footed and bundles of energy, both physically and mentally, their brain is in overdrive most of the time, which is why they get so much done.

- They are also good communicators and use their mental acuity to maximum advantage, however can also be prone to skepticism.

- They are also a studious lot, and can carefully analyze and tone down even their worst impulses. They enjoy studying and understanding every situation in great detail however, their perfectionist tendencies get in the way of their usual clear thinking.

- Their greatest strength is in their practicality, sharp mind and attention to detail coupled with their willingness to serve.

- They will only surround themselves with what's right for them, which serves Virgins well in business, where their decisions are usually well considered.

- Many of them face psychological problems, as Kanyajatakas (people born under virgo) tend to be compulsive worriers.

- One will never hear about a Virgin's tempestuous relationships or turbulent love life. They are not the ones to cuddle or make a public display of affection, but love a quite romance.

- The kind and loving nature is often lost in the no-nonsense and critical nature, which most often is a put-off.

- A Kanyajataka's (people born under virgo) obsession with order and neatness around the house can be quite infuriating to the unappreciating partner, who will never seem to meet exacting standards of a Kanyajataka (people born under virgo).

Virgo Decans
Born between September 14 and September 23: If the person is born between these days, the planetary ruler is Venus. The person born in this decan will be softer and versatile than the person born in the other decans. The person will have both discrimination and refinement. Artistic activities by such a person would bring both profit and pleasure.

Virgo Relationships
Virgo as a Friend: You are a solid friend and your sign is of service and communal living. Hence you always need friends although you do not acknowledge it. Virgo may not be the hearty type but is extremely steady and reliable.

Virgo Romance
Physically, Virgo may not be interested unless there is an intelligence quotient in the partner. (Damn, that's true HAHAHA)

Virgo Career
Virgo Career & Profession: Virgos make superb lawyers, critics, secretaries, treasurers, librarians, craftsman and psychologists. Virgos also make good reporters and excellent sub-editors. You can also be good doctors, chemists, homeopaths and sanitation experts. A Virgo girl can make for a good secretary.

THE VERDICT? 81% fits my personality ;)

PS: The original sources were linked back.

A Streak of Tigers

That's the collective term for tigers. Rawrrr.

I bought a 64-piece crayon set last month but I haven't used it yet. I remember a time when the kid who had the biggest crayon set (I think it was 150+ or 200+) was the coolest kid in class. Now your cool factor is determined by how many gadgets you have or how "high-tech" they are. Right..

Anyway, one of my friends is moving away so I'm thinking of doing an art work for him. Even bigger than all the original creations I've ever created.

I photographed this star (along Alumni Walk) during the last few weeks of school. I want to make one just like it. Speaking of which, that star belongs to UST. Speaking of UST, school's in in about 24 days. Whooo :))

I viewed the Collegiate Calendar and I hope I can still fly out by August. Very very much looking forward to that :D I hope by that time, everything's ready. Ssshhh.

Video!! :)

I forgot when I first heard this but they used it on the first ep of Chuck season 3 and I thought, "SEXY!" Also, it suits UST very well. Haha

Go Black, Go Gold! Go Black, Go White! ..or something like that :))

Anyway, a whole lotta other stuff going on. Will post sometime soon. For now, ladies and gentlemen, divert your attention to your TV screens, switch on to HBO and have fun :D

"The Hangover"

Day 14

What you wore today:

I stayed at home all day so I just wore a baggy Che Guevarra shirt and my black running shorts.

PS: Day 14 should have been intended for Saturday. *snaps*

May 11, 2011

Scorching Wednesday

Can I tell you about my day? Yes? Okay.

I was supposed to submit my requirements today for passport replacement at the Bel-Air apartment in Ermita, Manila. I had no idea where the building is but I know that it's just along Roxas Blvd. Okay, good enough.

I asked the FX driver where Bel-Air apartment is and he says it's right beside Robinson's Ermita so I get off at Pedro Gil. WRONG MOVE. As it turns out, the Bel-Air Apartment is near the Bayview Hotel. From Pedro Gil to United Nations. Get the distance? Pretty far, mate.

So I decided to walk along Roxas Blvd. under the blistering heat of midday Manila. Ugghhh. Luckily, a few friendly breezes blew. But still. I sweat like a pig. After walking for what seemed like forever, I finally reached it. I got nervous because there were a lot of people waiting outside the building so I asked a random stranger if there was a line to go inside.

His reaction? Hmm. He ignored me for full 30 seconds and then said, "Tanong mo nalang sa guard." Needless to say, that really grrr. Ah! Ignored. So I went inside, did my business at the DFA office and headed out. Now I am hungry and tired. Tomorrow, Embassy naman with lolo.

So fun.

Day 13

Your opinion about your body and how comfortable you are with it:

I'm as sexy as Fat Bstrd. HAHAHA. Kidding. :)

I feel very comfortable with my body, confident even. I don't have model proportions or beauty queen assets but I'm not really complaining. I'm happy with what I've been given. At times and when the mood strikes, I also like to play up my features and flaunt my stuff. Haha.

Yes I have insecurities. Who doesn't? It's nothing serious. I don't lose sleep over it. Hihi. People should be able to laugh at themselves and not take everything too seriously. Just like what Uncle Joker says.

I feel pretty, oh so pretty, so pretty and witty and bright. And so should you. :)

May 10, 2011

Day 12

Five guys whom you find attractive:

  1. "Chubby Sketch"
  2. Zachary Levi
  3. Brandon Routh
  4. Josh Hutcherson
  5. Gregory Peck. hahaha

Day 11

Your family:

We're all just a bunch of hyped-up crazy kids. Haha. I love my family even if at times we want to strangle each other. We've all been through a lot.

Never pick sides against the family (The Godfather). Your family will love you no matter what (Family Guy). This is my family now (Step Up 3D).

Group Hug.

On Moving

I can still remember that fateful day.

It was year.. crap I don't really know. But I'm pretty sure that I was in grade 1 in Marie Ernestine School Cebu at that time. Natural science class. My teacher asked her students, "What is one thing that ALL animals do?"

Naturally, kids love guessing. For about 10 minutes or so, everyone was screaming out their guesses at the top of their lungs. My teacher, I think her name was Ms. Necy, shot down every answer because they were all wrong. Haha. Then the class went quiet. I knew I'd get shot down but hell, I said it out loud anyway.

MOVE.

Ms. Necy finally had a look of approval on her face and clapped her hands a little. I was correct. Oh yeah :)) Back to the present. This post is not meant to reminisce on that proud moment I had during my early elementary days. Haha. That would just be too sad.

I heard/saw somewhere: "If you're not happy where you are, MOVE." I could not have expressed this any better myself. I don't know what it is. Was it the RH bill debate? The fact that my trip will be delayed? Or that I got stung by a bee? I really don't know. Some stuff (unexpected turn of events, etc) have been keeping me from being happy lately. So I just resorted to, well, MOVING.

If only I knew and comprehended back then the philosophical weight that that simple word carried. Crazy right? Years later, I saw the disney movie, "Meet the Robinsons". It is from here that I got my new life philosophy.

KEEP MOVING FORWARD.

So true, so true. Change is inevitable so we can't always just rest on our laurels and be benchwarmers for the rest of our lives. You know what? Just do it.

God, look at the time. I'm coming, bed!

Chaaaaarge

You might recognize this guy from my earlier posted creation.

After one hour

Oh. And there's an RH Bill debate going on on TV. Haha. I will make colorful things to bust boredom (hopefully there won't be any) tomorrow at the garden.

Good night world :)

May 8, 2011

May 7, 2011

New Best Friend

Meet Panda. She's my new puppy! While walking around in Robinsons-Cebu, we saw some people who were selling puppies. I just had to play with them. Then Ate Sheila mentions something about dad wanting to buy puppies. Haha. I HAD TO GET ONE! I was thinking it would be impossible for me to get one because we were flying to Manila that same day. But yeah, dad bought her along with two others, named GC and Ollie. They're staying at dad's place in Ormoc, Leyte.

I took her to the vet two days ago. She'll come back next week for check-up and shots. She is soooo lazy. I bought a leash so she can walk around when I go out but she really doesn't want to move which results in me carrying her around. Sheesh.

Haha. I look like a big loser, don't I? I had my sister take the picture and I wasn't sure if she photographed me already so I was just waiting there looking like an idiot :)) Hence, the goofy look.

I've never taken care of my own puppy before. I'm praying that I won't kill her like all my other pets before her. Argh. Sorry! :s

Messy Art

Inspiration, where art thou?

One of the very first complicated, messy doodles I've made so far. I took me around 4 days to complete this because I was very preoccupied with finals at the time.

Day 9

How important you think education is:

Education > Jobs/Career > Family Income > Insured > Repeat

Education's main purpose is not just to get a 9 to 5 job in the future. If you go to school thinking that you HAVE to drag yourself there to become a hotshot lawyer or doctor, then I think you have the wrong mindset. Yes, education can give you opportunities that other under/uneducated people can't have but there is more to be had here than just opportunities.

We have all asked ourselves the question, "how the hell are we going to use this (Algebra, Trigonometry, History) in real life?" But have you ever stopped and thought about HOW you tried to learn the things taught in school? Did you cheat your way through or did you work your ass off trying to absorb multiple data? Yeahhh. I think you get my point.

I apologize in advanced for my pageant-y answer.

I believe education can help eradicate poverty. It can keep us informed about current issues, how to deal with these issues and how we are all affected by them. If we value education enough, we can become a learned society and eventually, we can see progress for all.

P.S. Here, have a barf bag.

May 6, 2011

Day 8

What you ate today:

  • corn flakes with swiss miss
  • cookies
  • tinolang manok
  • milo with rice (yes)

Did I Mention?

I feel pretty, oh so pretty. I feel pretty, and witty, and bright.. NOT.

We have a visitor in the house today. A Chemistry professor from DLSU-Manila, one Mr. Eric Punsalan. He was also my mom's classmate in college. (BS Chemistry Batch '83 and '84, respectively) He's visiting my lola to talk about some business matters: the school, the garden shop, world economics.. Your typical adult business whatnot talk.

I was invited to sit in with them. Damn, I haven't even showered. Sheesh. Anyway, pretty interesting stuff I heard. I like people who are articulate and those who actually know what they're saying and who really make sense to boot. I also learned a lot about my lola today. Hihi. I just remembered I'm starting my summer job at the garden shop next monday. Should be fun, I guess :))

Oh did I mention? I wasn't accepted at UP Manila. I exceeded the number of units. Oh well. You win some, you lose some. You get 110 accumulated units, you don't get into UP. Haha :) Of course, very happy to be staying with my friends :D

Speaking of which, pool party was cancelled because damn the hassle. I freaking hope we'll get to have one on enrollment day. Anyway, thinking of what to do for the remainder of my summer vacation :3

Day 7

Five pet peeves:

  1. Really trivial stuff that people post. No one really cares about them, y'know. Hello, narcissism.
  2. The usage of the term BES. Kinda tacky in my opinion. No offense :(
  3. Excessive usage of punctuation marks in sentences. Eh.
  4. When people use their faces as their background pictures, most especially if it's tiled. Hello again, narcissism.
  5. People who think reading is DUMB. Grrr.

Day 6

Your views on mainstream music:

Sometimes (or what the hell, all the time) underground is better than mainstream. I don't know, it's too.. Commercialized? Generic, if you will. Most mainstream music sounds a little too alike. I think it follows a cookie-cutter pattern to appeal to the public. Besides, undiscovered bands are like rummaging through the ukay-ukay. Not that they're cheap or anything, but sometimes you unexpectedly find treasures that were always there. Yes, I like mainstream music but I find that I appreciate underground music a little more. Hehe.

PS: How the hell did I manage to make this sound melodramatic? :|

May 3, 2011

Day 5

Things you want to say to an ex:

1st dude: Hello :)

2nd dude: Hello. Thank you for the add.

3rd dude: Nood tayo ng Pirates of the Caribbean! Yun yung day ng alis mo ee :))

4th dude: Hello :)

French Rock

I spent the last hour looking for this song. YES!

May 2, 2011

Day 4

Bullet your whole day:
  • Woke up at 11AM.
  • Ate shrimp and nilagang baka for brunch. NOM NOM :3
  • Watched TV (boring!)
  • Went to Ormoc Centrum with Ate Sheila, Mikey, JJ and GC to buy pasalubong
  • Bought ice cream (Hershey's milk chocolate :D)
  • Went home, packed up stuff, ate ice cream. Naturally.
  • Watched TV
  • Chicken barbecue for dinner
  • Played with baby sister
  • Watched "Anak" on Cinema One. Hihihi :D
  • We tried catching a gecko in the house. What? It's worth 30k, y'know :))
  • Watched TV again
  • Went online to the usual sites and posted this.
That's the way the cookie crumbles :3

May 1, 2011

Canigao Island

Day 2 of the 30-Day Challenge was delayed because we went to Canigao Island! :D I didn't have a camera on me and I didn't want to use my phone so I grabbed photos from here. Hehe. We actually had shirts made for this trip. HAHAHA. Cuz we gangstahz and that's how we roll :))

Front: Canigao Island / Summer Outing / April 30, 2011
Back: BARANGAY PUNTA / "I'm proud to be a puntahanun"
HAHAHA :)

Urgh. 3-hour road trip, 10-minute bangka ride going there. Hassling but very fun experience nonetheless. It's still new and a little underdeveloped but there is adventure to be had in this little island. Weee.

floating raft!! :)

bangka ride!! :)

Lola Lily and my baby sister, GC :)

There were no cabins so we set up camp and slept in tents. Haha. If I'm not mistaken, that was my first camping experience.

We also had to eat with our hands, which I love doing :>

Aside from that, we played beach volleyball, beach badminton. Yeah, you have to add the "beach" word. Haha. We also trekked the entire circumference of the island and saw sea creatures. :3 We caught a jellyfish! :D

Say hello to Jerry the Jellyfish :D (Grrr. We left him back in Canigao :|)

Trekking! :)

I think it was a 2-day team-building activity for dad and his colleagues. So in team buildings, you have to have games, bonding activity whatnot, etc. They played a LOT. Sobrang nakakatuwa tingnan :)) My sister and I won P500 from playing Pinoy Henyo! Woohoo :D

Bonfire! You must choose between sharing (talking) or performing. Haha

The beach looks lovely :D It kept raining though. Grrr.

You can't go to the beach and NOT build sandcastles :)) My brother, sister and I are currently building a channel from our castle to the sea.

Come again :D

Super fun! YES :D Too bad my older sister missed it. Oh well.

I still have sand on my slippers. I can still feel sea water in my eyes. I am still very exhausted. But the Canigao beach trip was unforgettably undeniably awesome :))
