Year-End Review

I wasn't able to fully appreciate personal reviews until 2 or 3 years ago when opportunities to develop myself started rolling in. I think the telling moment was when I was really starting to believe in myself again and know that I'm capable of doing great things and becoming something of note (in the very least, in my opinion).

These last couple of hours before the new year will have me writing out a bunch of personal reviews, contemplating on my 2017, looking forward to next year, and hopefully emptying my work inbox because man, I am not looking forward to a bajillion e-mails after this trip.

Anyway, my templates and guide questions are up. I just need a warm drink and music. Then the fun time party party can begin. Here's to the last few hours before the new year!

NFAQ's: Love

One of my favorite rom-coms, The Holiday, is playing whilst I write this. I admit I am kind of a fluff movie buff. I'll watch anything, sure but I am partial to romantic comedies. (I love you, Nora Ephron!)

Anyway, thinking of starting this Not Frequently Asked Questions thing. I've always imagined being interviewed by a magazine because I am pathetic. :)) While no one has invited (nor will ever invite) me to become a glossy magazine's cover story, this NFAQ will have to do. This is the most vulnerable and "naked" I can be online. Grab your copies now.

I'm 22 and I don't know what to do.

You're young and you want so many things in life. You want to live life meaningfully, with passion, with a mission. You want to make a difference, create change, and inspire other people.

You dread the daily grind of a 9-to-5 in a corporate setting. You don't want to just stare a computer screen, surrounded by gray walls, working on stuff which don't really matter in the long run. You have deadlines which don't sustain past being deadlines.

In a month or two, you'll just forget about them.

Ms. Nobody

Why the title? When I was in Grade 5, we discussed a poem entitled "Mr. Nobody". It was a part of the unit that focused on curiousity, adventure, and little children. You know how kids can be. Inquisitive minds and adventurous spirits. I should know hihi.

Anyway, the poem was about this young boy who wreaks havoc in the house where he lives which drives his family crazy. It's entitled "Mr. Nobody" because they don't know who's been making a mess in the household. Or something to that effect.

Yes I remember stuff like that.

Throughout the entire discussion on this particular unit, my then English teacher kept pointing out what a rascal my older brother was (same teacher). Yeah, he was, as she kept pointing out, "too adventurous", like a kid. If only she knew how I much I was too.

I like to think of myself as Ms. Nobody because I too, am adventurous. I am still very much like a kid (look like one too, as many people like to point out).

Anyway, I like experimenting (no, not that kind), learning new things, meeting people. Wala lang. Just felt like saying so :>

Day 13

Your opinion about your body and how comfortable you are with it:

I'm as sexy as Fat Bstrd. HAHAHA. Kidding. :)

I feel very comfortable with my body, confident even. I don't have model proportions or beauty queen assets but I'm not really complaining. I'm happy with what I've been given. At times and when the mood strikes, I also like to play up my features and flaunt my stuff. Haha.

Yes I have insecurities. Who doesn't? It's nothing serious. I don't lose sleep over it. Hihi. People should be able to laugh at themselves and not take everything too seriously. Just like what Uncle Joker says.

I feel pretty, oh so pretty, so pretty and witty and bright. And so should you. :)

Day 11

Your family:

We're all just a bunch of hyped-up crazy kids. Haha. I love my family even if at times we want to strangle each other. We've all been through a lot.

Never pick sides against the family (The Godfather). Your family will love you no matter what (Family Guy). This is my family now (Step Up 3D).

On Moving

I can still remember that fateful day.

It was year.. crap I don't really know. But I'm pretty sure that I was in grade 1 in Marie Ernestine School Cebu at that time. Natural science class. My teacher asked her students, "What is one thing that ALL animals do?"

Naturally, kids love guessing. For about 10 minutes or so, everyone was screaming out their guesses at the top of their lungs. My teacher, I think her name was Ms. Necy, shot down every answer because they were all wrong. Haha. Then the class went quiet. I knew I'd get shot down but hell, I said it out loud anyway.

MOVE.

Ms. Necy finally had a look of approval on her face and clapped her hands a little. I was correct. Oh yeah :)) Back to the present. This post is not meant to reminisce on that proud moment I had during my early elementary days. Haha. That would just be too sad.

I heard/saw somewhere: "If you're not happy where you are, MOVE." I could not have expressed this any better myself. I don't know what it is. Was it the RH bill debate? The fact that my trip will be delayed? Or that I got stung by a bee? I really don't know. Some stuff (unexpected turn of events, etc) have been keeping me from being happy lately. So I just resorted to, well, MOVING.

If only I knew and comprehended back then the philosophical weight that that simple word carried. Crazy right? Years later, I saw the disney movie, "Meet the Robinsons". It is from here that I got my new life philosophy.

KEEP MOVING FORWARD.

So true, so true. Change is inevitable so we can't always just rest on our laurels and be benchwarmers for the rest of our lives. You know what? Just do it.

On Friends in Love

Hello.

I have a lot of friends who have been in relationships for a few years now and I cannot help but feel so happy for them. Mind you, I'm not bitter. Really. I have a long way to go before heading down that road again. Haha! I'm saving all my love for me. Hahaha. Yeahh. :))

Anyway, I recently received news about two of my best friends being IAR! I'm so happy :D You know who you guys are. :">

(1) I am the cupid, the match maker behind this lovely couple. (2) The girl is my sister figure. (3) The guy is my obnoxious best friend. (4) I love them. (5) They love each other!

Tonight, I ask the infamous love question: Which is better? To fall in love with your best friend or to have a relationship and then be his/her best friend?

Wait, did I ask that right? Anyway, for me, it would have to be the latter. Falling in love with your best friend entails a LOT of complications ("My Best Friend's Wedding", enough said). It's comforting to be in a relationship with someone you know like the back of your hand but it's going to be different (not the good kind) if it doesn't work out in the end. Oh well.

To become your partner's best friend is awesome. I've been told that friendship is the foundation of a strong relationship. When the lovey-dovey fuzzy feelings from the new found courtship stage in a relationship is over, what will you have left? Friendship should always be present from the start. Not to mention, of course, loyalty and trust.

I'm no expert on this matter, just stating my opinion as always. Haha I don't know what I'm saying anymore. I'll shut up now :D

I absolutely LOVE this song with all my heart and soul. I was supposed to post something rather personal tonight but I decided against it because I don't want to j**x it. Haha. I can't say the word.

Today was rather exhausting but it made me happy nonetheless. Met up with Lui. She calls me Piggy. Haha boo oink oink. Hung out with Bodji. He finally got me the heavenly shake from that whatsits shop along P. Noval! Haha >:)

Tomorrow is another eventful day ahead. Still, I cannot ignore the sad realities that I know I have to face. One of my close friends is moving away. I may/may not be accepted to UP Manila. I may/may not have to work the family garden shop in May. Still holding onto that hope of the June trip. So much on my plate..

I shall sleep. Zzz.
